I feel like making the carb, so here it goes
First, a piece of brass is mounted up. Then it's drilled out to specs and turned to the exterior diameter for the majority of the carb.
Next I turn down the mounting boss to just oversize of the reamed hole in the cylinder, then cut the standoff ring adjacent to it. Oh, and don't forget the nice profile cut just up from the mounting boss.
Next, part off the carb, face back to length and cut the inside profile of the intake side. Heres is where I differed from the plans a little, I like the looks of bell or velocity stack intakes ;)-
For the back side of the 'velocity stack', I made a small profile tool and just ran it in till it looked right.
Next I cross drill the 'butterfly' choke hole a size under the final dimension so I can ream this hole to the correct size.
Time to center drill the finger choke. I center drilled about half the wall thickness, giving a nice little indention.
Next, I drilled the centered hole to the correct opening size the rest of the way into the carb throat. Flip 180' and repeat for the fuel inlet line. The carb body is complete.
The 'butterfly' is a simple peice of turning and it went really easily, so no pics of its manufacture. A little chunk of spring, a temporary paper clip handle, and we can see how it's pieces go together. I like it!
