Ok, so I decided to see how the casting material machines BEFORE I start on the main casting. The muffler castings
seem like a nice place to start, so that what I'm going to do. As a note, did I mention how nice the castings are to begin with?

Casting ears bug me while I'm doing the machining. So they had to come off. A few minutes with a hack saw and my 1/4" air grinder with a flapper wheel and heres what they look like.

Front side chucked up in the 3 jaw with a spacer to hold it level

Ok, so the nub on the front is faced, sides cleaned, and center drilled
|

Drilled through and the reversed on the nub we cleaned up
|

Turned the back mounting surface flat in relation to the front
|
|
Cut the inside relief to size, and remembered the settings to take close pics
|
|
Put it on the rotary table to drill the holes

Turned a nice clean mounting boss centerd on the outter rim
|

Flipped and chucked on the turned boss, cleaned up the mounting face
|
|
Flipped again, sawed off excess and cleaned it up, then center drilled
|

The exhaust pipe hole drilled and reamed, ready for the pipe

Muffler to this point with temp screws and a brass pipe (I had the right size brass already)
